에센셜 오일은 식물에서 추출한 휘발성 (상온에서 쉽게 증발 됨) 화합물을 포함하는 농축 된 소수성 액체입니다.
에센셜 오일은 휘발성 오일, 에테르 오일, aetherolea라고도하며 단순히 추출 된 식물의 오일 (예 : 정향 오일)이라고도합니다. 에센셜 오일은 식물 향의 '본질'을 포함하고 있다는 점에서 '필수적'입니다. 에센셜 오일은 일반적으로 증류를 통해 추출되며 종종 증기를 사용합니다. 다른 프로세스에는 표현, 용매 추출, 스푸 마투라, 절대 오일 추출, 수지 태핑, 왁스 임베딩, 냉압착이 포함됩니다. 향수, 화장품, 비누 및 기타 제품에 사용되며 음식과 음료의 맛을 내고 향 및 가정용 청소 제품에 향을 추가하는 데 사용됩니다. 에센셜 오일은 일반적으로 순수한 화학 성분을 포함하는 반면 에센셜 오일은 식물에서 파생되므로 향수, 향료 등과 혼동해서는 안됩니다. 에센셜 오일은 대체 의학의 한 형태인 아로마 테라피에 대중적으로 사용됩니다. 아로마 테라피는 심리적, 생리적, 항균/방부, 미용효과 등의 다양한 효능 효과들이 있습니다.

An essential oil is a concentrated hydrophobic liquid containing volatile (easily evaporated at normal temperatures) chemical compounds from plants. Essential oils are also known as volatile oils, ethereal oils, aetherolea, or simply as the oil of the plant from which they were extracted, such as oil of clove. An essential oil is "essential" in the sense that it contains the "essence of" the plant's fragrance. Essential oils are generally extracted by distillation, often by using steam. Other processes include expression, solvent extraction, sfumatura, absolute oil extraction, resin tapping, wax embedding, and cold pressing. They are used in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps and other products, for flavoring food and drink, and for adding scents to incense and household cleaning products. Essential oils should not be confused with perfume, fragrance, etc. as the latter usually include pure chemical components whereas essential oils are derived from plants. Essential oils are often used for aromatherapy, a form of alternative medicine in which healing effects are ascribed to aromatic compounds. Aromatherapy has various effects such as psychological, physiological, antibacterial/antiseptic, and cosmetic effects.
